Performers
The ELCA Youth Gathering is excited to announce — singer, songwriter, guitarist, wife, mother, sister, friend, daughter, speaker, leader, and artist RACHEL KURTZ will be preforming in the Mercedes Benz Superdome on Opening Night, Wednesday, July 18. Rachel Kurtz is a Minnesota based singer/songwriter whose distinctive voice infuses her organic instrumentation to wash over and through the listener. Her subtle blend of style reveals folk pop sensibilities with a healthy dose of soul. Audiences across the country resonate with Rachel’s music. It gets inside of people, calls them friend, and lets them know they are not alone. Citizens with the Saints, get ready to sing with Rachel!

Spring Trainings/Online Meetings
Due to the lack of participation at our previous workshops, the spring 2012 workshops will be online meetings. You will have 3 opportunities to participate:
- Saturday, April 14 10am-Noon
- Sunday, April 22 1-3pm
- Saturday, April 28 10am-Noon
Watch for information about registering for these online meetings.
Volunteers Needed
On Thursday, July 19 we will be spending the morning together in worship and Bible study. Volunteers are needed!
►Ushers (need 10)
►Communion Assistants (need 25)
►Musicians for prelude/postlude
►Small group leaders (need 74 adults )
Small group leaders will be asked to guide small group discussions and will receive detailed instructions onsite. Primary Leaders are asked to complete a form for everyone in their group. If you would like to download a fillable form CLICK HERE.
T-Shirts
An order form is available at the end of this newsletter for synod shirts. Purchase is optional. Those who purchase are encouraged to wear their shirts on Thursday, July19. You will receive your shirt when you arrive onsite to register.
Random Stuff
- Volunteer opportunities are full again (as of the first part of March). Should they need more applicants, they will let us know.
- MYLE/ DAYLE registration is at capacity and can longer accept new participants. This was announced in the March gNews that went out Friday, March 9.
- Payments should be going to the PO Box in St. Louis and NOT the Chicago office. It is also very, VERY important to include the congregation ID number on the memo line of the check!
- This week (March 12) they are working on assigning housing to late registering congregations, or congregations who weren’t assigned rooms for one reason or another up until now. They will continue to work on getting rooms for those groups throughout this month, so please know the Gathering Staff hasn’t forgotten about you!
