Dr. Terri Elton serves as an affiliated faculty at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minn., working with the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry team in the area of contextual theology. Prior to her call to Luther, Terri served as an associate to the bishop in the Saint Paul Area synod where her responsibilities included leadership development, working with First Call theological education, youth and family ministry, and working with congregations. In addition, Terri served for 16 years at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, Mn. While at Prince of Peace she has worked in a various roles serving youth and confirmation ministries, children and family ministries, leadership development, and with an outreach ministry called Changing Church. Terri has a Ph.D. in Congregational Mission and Leadership and an MA in Leadership both from Luther Seminary, is a trained facilitator for The Path, a process for creating mission statements, and LifeKeys, a personal discovery process. She has authored To Know, To Live, To Grow confirmation curriculum and co-authoring What Really Matters with Mike Foss, a book for congregational leaders. Gary Simpson was named associate professor of systematic theology at Luther Seminary in 1990 and professor of systematic theology in 1998. Earlier, he served as a Lutheran pastor for 14 years. Simpson was pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alameda, Calif., (1976-1983) and Protestant chaplain of Highland-Alameda County Hospital in Oakland, Calif., (1976 to 1978). Subsequently, he was minister of education and youth at St. Charles (Mo.) Christian Church (1981-83) and pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Portland, Ore. (1983-90). During his years in Portland, he was adjunct teacher for Warner Pacific College as well as Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, Calif., and the Lutheran Institute for Theological Education in Tacoma, Wash.
Dave Berg has a passion for reaching emerging generations with the Gospel through innovative and imaginative ways. Currently serving as Lead Pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Rochester, Minn., he has presented around the country on topics such as the use of projected visuals in preaching and worship and reaching out to emerging generations. He has served as an Evangelism Partner for the ELCA, as a board member for Lutheran Campus Ministry of Minnesota and has helped develop preaching resources for Augsburg Fortress Publishers. In reaching younger generations, Dave encourages service learning and working for social justice as crucial elements to living the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Singer and Song-Artist, Heatherlyn, also known as “HL,” is in her fifth year on the Worship Arts Team at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, Minn. She also serves to lead worship through song for a missional community called River of Joy, a recent church plant of Prior Lake, Minn., existing to serve the people where they live. Heatherlyn believes music and art can inspire deeper conversation about being in partnership with God’s movement, bringing heaven here on earth. Heatherlyn shares her gifts of music and a message of hope all throughout her community, in coffee shops and common gathering places. She will lead us to consider and celebrate the character of our God, whose very nature is love. As we worship our creator, we will be transformed and we will become the love the world needs to experience Jesus’ grace, healing, and abundant life. Hear LIVE recording
